Situated on a large natural harbour on the coast of Apulia is the pretty city of Brindisi! Known as the ‘Gateway to the East’, this city has been a very important trading port between Italy,Greece and Eastern countries over the centuries because of its prime location jutting out on the Adriatic Sea.
Roman troops used it constantly during the reign and expansion of the Roman Empire and trade merchants from Venice used it as an import and export station for exotic goods.
Tourists will love the smooth sandy beaches and glittering blue waters that frame the coast around the area so perhaps staying in a peaceful holiday villa in Brindisi would be the perfect place to relax in for a few days. From here, there are many interesting places to see and visit in and around the city itself.
