The welcoming city of Reggio Calabria is the biggest in the region of Calabria and is a lovely spot for tourists to spend a few days! Situated on the toe of Italy and separated from the island and region of Sicily by the exotic Strait of Messina, the city lies on the slopes of a long rugged mountain range called Aspromonte. Tourists can avail of a lovely selection of holiday villas in Calabria where they can easily commute to this city for a day or two of thrilling exploration!

Reggio Calabria is home to a very large and important archaeological museum which details the history of strong Greek ties with the region as well as displaying a few superb artefacts. See the Riace Bronze statues here that are a rare and wonderful example of perfectly preserved Greek sculpture.

Hanging on the sheer cliffs overlooking the Stromboli Volcano and the Tyrrhenian Sea is the medieval city of Tropea. It is situated on the southwestern coast of Italy and considered one of the most beautiful cities on Tyrrhenian coastline. The Tropea promontory is surrounded by cliffs and sandy beaches while many of the older palazzi are built from the golden stone of the cliffs or right into the side of them. As a result, Tropea is oftentimes referred to as the prettiest town on the Calabria coastline.
