
The welcoming city of Reggio Calabria is the biggest in the region of Calabria and is a lovely spot for tourists to spend a few days! Situated on the toe of Italy and separated from the island and region of Sicily by the exotic Strait of Messina, the city lies on the slopes of a long rugged mountain range called Aspromonte. Walk along the beautiful promenade of Reggio Calabria. Sit down at the Arena dello Stretto, a pretty little amphitheatre on this walkway where frequent music and theatre performances are held. It’s lovely just to sit here and watch the sun set over the rippling Mediterranean Sea after a fun day of walking around the city.
The fishing economy is still doing well here and tourism has certainly been boosted over the years by people flocking to the beautiful beaches that line the coastline around Reggio Calabria. So after a few hours of deliciously warm sunbathing, why not stop off in a charming fish restaurant beside the sea to savour the freshest catch of the day and cool down with a crisp cold glass of white wine!
