Visit the largest and perhaps the most beautiful island in the entire Mediterranean, Sicily! This gorgeous holiday destination is located just off the southern coast of Italy and is home to the tallest active volcano in Europe, Mount Etna! It stands at a height of 3,320 metres and is indeed a sight to behold! Visitors have a lovely selection of holiday rentals in Sicily to choose from where they can relax and soak in the sunshine and culture of this breath taking island!

Sicily is made up of nine provinces; Agrigento, Caltanissetta, Catania, Enna, Messina, Palermo, Ragusa, Syracuse and Trapani of which the capital city is Palermo.

For those with an interest in history, be sure to visit some of many archaeological sites in Sicily. A lot of ruins remain behind from ancient Roman and Greek times including the Necropolis of Pantalica, Valley of the Temples and Selinunte.

There are six fantastic UNESCO World Heritage Sites here that would make for an excellent few days of exploration along with a wide variety of old castles, quaint little towns and villages and lots of nature reserves.

Sicily is a very artistic region where tourists can choose from lots of pretty artisan crafts such as colourful ceramics.

Sicily is the third largest wine producer in Italy that is well known for their sweet Marsala wines and the tasty Nero d’Avola varieties. The street food made here is especially delicious, especially one called ‘Arancini’ which are seasoned rice balls fried in breadcrumbs.

Try a dessert called 'Cannoli' which is a sweet pastry filled with ricotta cheese. There’s a nice variety of meat and seafood dishes to choose from also that boast rich deep flavours that will stay in your memories forever!

Golf lovers have a few choices of scenic courses to play on and holiday makers who like to do little else but relax then why not head to one of several outdoor thermal spas which are heated by the volcanic activity that takes place deep within the earth!
