How To Spend A Magic Christmas In San Marino II

San Marino
The Republic of San Marino is an impossibly beautiful little country that is located in Italy, on the border between Le Marche and Emilia Romagna. At Christmas, the country, and its capital (also named San Marino), in particular, is especially stunning.

In the last article, we discussed how the beautiful capital becomes even more lovely during the festive season through the initiatives of a project called The Christmas of Wonders. This involves decorating one street in knitted decorations, another in candles and lanterns and lighting streets all over with projections and light effects on the historic buildings of the old town centre. Musical performances and theatrical presentations by buskers only heighten this lovely Christmas atmosphere. However, this is not all there is to be seen. There are plenty of other activities and things to see and do. Just find a vacation rental in Le Marche or a vacation rental in Emilia Romagna make a day trip (or maybe two) to this incredible little land to experience it all for yourself!
For games and fun, head to the “Fireplace Garden” in the Giardino dei Liburni, which is lit up by a big fire. Next, head to Santa's House and Village in Cava Antica, where there will be entertainment and games for children and cute little wooden houses in which you can purchase sweets and hot drinks. While there, you can also check out the ice-skating rink and mini-bob slide for even more fun and games that everyone can enjoy! More adventurous types can head to Cava dei Balestrieri where you will find the “Adventure Quarry”, offering bouldering, abseiling and a rope bridge.

If you don't feel like breaking a sweat and just want to have fun looking at unique festive delights, head to Cantone where artists and sculptors will be making amazing ice sculptures on sight. For larger scale theatrics, Piazza Sant’Agata will be home to New Year’s Eve celebrations with music and shows. Of course, one of the activities that you surely cannot miss out on are the Christmas markets! Head to Via Eugippo for the “Art and gift” market stalls of craftsmen making handmade gifts and trinkets and head to Via Donna Felicissima for the street food market, where there will be food prepared on the spot and food contests to observe!

San Marino really is a magical place to spend Christmas!
