There are many beautiful coastlines, dotted with resorts and offering holidays jam-packed with adventure, sea, sand and fun, all around the world. Some are particularly famous, like the glamorous French Riviera.
However, one particular stretch of coast in Italy is called the “Riviera of Fun”, also known as the Adriatic Riviera or the Romagna Riviera, in Emilia Romagna, is one of the country's best-known resort areas and very much befits its nickname.
Perhaps not the most elegant of places, or where to head if you are looking for peace and solitude but if you are looking for fun and the quintessential Italian seaside experience, there could be no better destination. Just find a vacation rental in Emilia Romagna and explore this Italian favourite for yourself.

The Romagna Riviera stretches from the Lidos of Comacchio all the way to Cattolica, passing through the Comunes of Cervia, Cesenatico, Igea Marina, Bellaria, Cattolica, Rimini and Riccione along the way. For over a century now, it has been a popular holiday destination among Italians due to its winning formula of beach by day and party by night in addition to the warmth of the locals, delicious regional cuisine and products, value for money and huge range of choice in restaurants, stores and accommodation.
One of the biggest selling points of the Riviera, however, has to be how family-friendly it is. There are plenty of activities that everyone can enjoy and there is lots that the little ones, in particular, will enjoy. You will find several theme and amusement parks in the area with highlights being the games, magic and water rides of Mirabilandia, Rimini’s Dolphinarium that amazes visitors with their dolphin's acrobatics, and Cattolica’s Acquario spectacular display of thousands of fish species. In addition to this, there are plenty of outdoor pursuits to be enjoyed in the area, such as cycling, sailing, golf, hiking and canoeing.

If you are still looking for something to do after all that, don't forget the rich cultural and historical heritage of the region. Ravenna was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996 for its extraordinary Byzantine mosaics; Mondaino, Montebello, San Giovanni in Marignano and Saludecio all boast Malatestian Fortresses; and Rimini is home to Renaissance gems and Roman remains such as the 1st-century Tiberius Bridge, built during the reign of Augustus. Once the sun sets and the kids are tired out, or once you and your pals have finished with sand and sea for the day, head to the endless nightclubs and parties where some of the country's best DJs can be spotted and a good time awaits.
While the Romagna Riviera is often chaotic, crazily busy and loud, it is a place of good fun for everyone at good value and one of the places to check out if you want to holiday like a local in Italy.
