Turin is a superb tourist city in the north of Italy. It’s the capital city of the Piedmont region and is situated on the left bank of the Po River in front of the Susa Valley.

Turin is an exciting addition to any 'Italian holiday’ It has a rich culture and history, and is home to lots of art galleries, museums, churches, parks, opera houses and other places of interest.

History lovers would delight in a visit to the famous Museo Egizio in Turin city. It’s an Egyptian museum of archaeology and anthropology (the study of humankind, past and present) and is the second largest collection in the world after Cairo museum in Egypt.

Turin was Italy’s first capital city in 1861 and was home to the prestigious House of Savoy which was Italy’s Royal family. It’s the third richest city in the country. This glorious city is also home to the infamous Shroud of Turin. This is a religious relic, a long linen cloth bearing the image of a dead man who bears all the marks of a crucifixion.

Liguria is a very scenic region of North West Italy that is bordered by France to the west, Piedmont to the north, Emilia Romagna and Tuscany to the East and a small section to the sea. Steep cliffs line the coastline as well as some gorgeous little fishing towns like Portovenere and Sanremo tucked into crevices along it. There are four provinces in Liguria; Imperia, Savona, Genoa and La Spezia.

The capital city is Genoa which is home to the busiest seaport in Italy! Tourists would thoroughly enjoy a day or two of walking around this UNESCO World Heritage Site that was home to the famous explorer, Christopher Columbus! The beautiful region of Lombardy located in the north of Italy, is the richest and most populated in Italy, and one of the wealthiest areas in Europe!

Situated in the north west of Italy, the region of Piedmont is a beautiful place to visit on your next holiday to Italy. Its name is of Latin origin which means ‘Foot of the Mountains’. The small mountainous region of Aosta Valley is tucked in the north west of Italy and borders the French Alps, Switzerland. It’s the smallest and least populated region in the country and isn't split into provinces because of its size!

But it does have 74 lovely communes full of pretty towns and villages that have lots to offer the curious tourist. The weather can get bitterly cold here during the winter months and is mild during the summer but be sure to bring warm clothes to protect against a sharp wind blowing down from the alps!

French and Italian are both official languages spoken in Aosta Valley because of its proximity to France. It was conquered by Rome in 25 BC; many new roads and mountain passes were constructed to encourage better communication between the towns and other regions.
