Trentino is a northern region of Italy, set amongst Alpine backdrops, lush valleys, rolling hills, wide pastures, and little villages that is, undoubtedly, utterly picturesque and completely lovely. However, there are particular corners of Trentino that are especially beautiful and magical and that should be sought out by anyone who has found a vacation rental in Trentino and is thinking about exploring the region. One of those little gems is Arco Castle, a romantic ruin that sits majestically atop a cliff and surveys the surrounding landscape. Come and stretch your legs by hiking to the castle, admire the incredible panoramic view from the top, and explore this stunningly lovely ruin.

Perched over the plain of the River Sacra, just at the point at which it widens, Arco Castle (Castello di Arco) dominates the skyline of the area and is an iconic structure in the landscape. It is the symbol of the town of Arco and a beloved memento of times past. While its exact origins are somewhat steeped in mystery, we know that it existed at least after the year 1000 AD. The area has been inhabited since before the Middle Ages and it is thought that the castle was originally built by the people, only to be later taken over by the local nobles.

Italy is beautiful in Spring; the countryside is lush, the cities less full, the queues outside tourist attractions smaller, the temperatures more pleasant, and the prices of things lower. It is a great time to plan a vacation to most parts of the country, however, there are some destinations that are particular lovely in Spring, at their best at this time of year. Italy has birthed many of the world's most famous and popular cocktails such as the Americano, the Negroni and the Bellini. Many of these drinks come from iconic bars in cities like Venice and Florence but, every now and then, culinary gems emerge from lesser-known destinations around the country. One such example is the Hugo.

Not unlike the Mojito, the Hugo is a cocktail that comes from the South Tyrol region in northern Italy and is popular, and readily found, in cafes and bars in southern Germany and Austria as well, particularly during the summer months!

Trieste is an incredibly pretty seaside city in the north of Italy and there are plenty of beautiful buildings all around it but one of the most striking of them all is the Faro della Vittoria, or Victory Lighthouse. The tallest landmark in Trieste, it is built on Gretta Hill and located to the north of the city centre. Built to commemorate fallen soldiers during WWI, light the Gulf of Trieste and celebrate the annexation of the city to the Kingdom of Italy, it was begun in 1923, according to the design of Arduino Berlam.
