A Bunch of Santas
Città di Castello is an ancient town in the Tiber Valley that is still largely surrounded by town walls dating back to the 16th century. It has a long history of being attacked, destroyed, rebuilt and being passed from ruler to to ruler.

Yet, despite this, it is still a historic and pretty town where many stunning buildings have been preserved such as the Palace of the Podestà, with its baroque facade dating back to 1686; the Town Hall, built in the Gothic style with an elegant portal and windows with two lights; the Gothic Cathedral, built on the site of a Roman temple; and St. Mary Maggiore, dating back to the Gothic era but adorned by a Renaissance facade.

The Municipal Pinacoteque, meanwhile, is home to works of art by Raphael, Signorelli and Domenico Ghirlandaio, as well as many other works by artists of the Umbrian, Tuscan and Marche schools.     Read More

Bay of Marettimo
Marettimo, off the coast of Sicily is a stunning island that is probably less familiar to most than Capri or Patelleria. Yet, the sea is no less blue, the beaches are no less beautiful and, in fact, they are both all the lovelier for the lack of tourist crowds, queues and gimmicks. It has become more well-known to the outside world in recent years but retains its unique charms and is still relatively unknown. For this reason, it really is the perfect place to sit back, relax and well and truly get away from it all. Just find yourself a luxury villa in Sicily and spend some time on this preserved and hidden gem.

Remarkably lush and green, it is a place that tends to attract cultured regulars who return year after year rather than confused crowds of day-trippers, moving around together in a gaggle. It is an Italian island paradise that attract walkers, scuba-divers and sun-seekers and is a place to indulge in hobbies that may never normally garner much time or attention or to merely lie out on a perfect beach with loved ones and a good drink in hand.     Read More

View over Panarea
Panarea is an island off the coast of Sicily that is both the smallest and most fashionable of the Aeolian islands. It is a place that attracts celebrities and jet-setters and offers a slice of paradise and a real taste of luxury.

With no cars on the island, crystal blue seas, white villages, soft sandy beaches and bright blooming bougainvillea, iconic hotels and bars, yachts filling the tiny harbour and chic visitors and inhabitants abounding, it is an incredibly picturesque island that paints an image of a very different lifestyle to the one that most of us are familiar with.

To become a fellow resident of the princess that lives on the island or have a holiday home there, is a long and laborious process that requires being rich, famous, powerful and, most importantly, charming. However, it is possible to visit on day trips as a guest once you have found a vacation rental in Sicily.     Read More

Rabbit Beach
Rabbit Beach, in Sicily, is the best beach in the world.

This is certainly true if you trust what was said by the voters and real-life travellers and normal tourists of travel website TripAdvisor in 2013. In fact, though it doesn't win every year, the beach is consistently voted by the website's users as one of the best beaches in the world. Visitors note its “crystal clear” water and “soft sand” as some of the main selling points and others note that it is “hard to believe you are not somewhere tropical”.

Located on the island of Lampedusa, next to the tiny Isola dei Conigli (or “Rabbit Island”), Rabbit Beach is set in the Mediterranean Sea and paints an exceptionally beautiful picture with the white sands being lapped by the azure water. If this sounds like your cup of tea (and why wouldn't it), just find a vacation rental in Sicily and pay a visit to this famous beach.     Read More

Pier at Civitavecchia
Surfing probably isn't the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Italy and the country is not particularly well-known for having good swells. However, there are plenty of beautiful beaches all over Italy and you may get the urge to go surfing while spending time by the sea. One particularly nice area for surfing in Italy is at Civitavecchia in Lazio. Not only is the town charming and full of things to do and see, but you can often catch quite good waves and there are a few surfing schools in the area.
