3. Dicomano, Tuscany
I'm not a local but I did minor in Italian in university, live in Italy for a summer and have visited several times. I have a good understanding of the culture from studying Italian and of the history and art from majoring in the History of Art and Architecture. Through my position at Easy Reserve, I have spent my working days thinking, talking and learning about Italy. Therefore, I could suggest endless places, buildings, works of art, dishes, drinks and more that you should make time for if you're travelling in Italy.
However, my personal favourite place in Italy was decided on my last family vacation in Tuscany, last summer. Previously, I would have said that my favourite place in Italy was the entire city of Turin for its great architectural beauty and gentle energy but that was surpassed last year when I discovered Dicomano and the winery of Agriturismo Frascole, in particular. I have told the story of how we found this little gem on Tuscany Villas before but, suffice it to say, I found it under great duress when my impulsive family decided they wanted to go wine-tasting at a vineyard the very next day, late at night during our holiday. I somehow managed to find Agriturismo Frascole and arrange a visit for the next afternoon and the trip was the highlight of our vacation. The surroundings were stunning and picture-perfect and the vineyard itself was populated by kind people and great wines. Not especially famous, it is a true hidden gem that most would probably never stumble across but, if you have found a vacation rental in Tuscany, it is the perfect spot for a lazy day of wine-tasting and relaxing.
