Atrani may be just one of the many stunning towns located along the Amalfi Coast but it is certainly one of the absolute loveliest – and that's saying something! It is made up of a tangle of little roads, a cluster of buildings, steep and romantic flights of steps, pretty little gardens, all perched on a cliff face high above the glittering waters of the sea. A fishing village that has managed to preserve its medieval structure, it boasts a cuisine with lots of fresh fish dishes (as one can imagine) including sarchiapone, a marrow stuffed with meat and cheese cooked in tomato sauce. Some typical desserts include the custard and cherry filled pasticciotto and the very sweet casata atranese.

In addition to tasty food, the town is noteworthy for its range of fascinating buildings that all date to various eras, from the 10th century Medieval Church of San Salvatore de’ Birecto to the Rococo facade of the Church of St. Mary Magdalene Penitent. It is also a scenic beauty that features incredible views, well-tended gardens, lemon groves and a small and perfect sandy beach.

Photogenic, charming and a five minute trip from Amalfi, Atrani is far removed from chaos, traffic and noise and is a perfect place to relax and indulge in some well-earned peace and tranquility.
