If you are a fashion lover, Milan is the place to be! She is one of the great fashion capitals of the world and is having a particularly hot moment when it comes to influence and trends. The Spring/Summer 2018 collections that were shown a few weeks ago only proved this so find a vacation rental in Milan for next spring or summer when these collections will all be hitting stores! Here are more of Milan's most exciting shows from SS18 to keep your eye out for when you land in the city.
7. Versace
I'll be honest, Versace isn't really my cup of tea, normally. It's a type of maximalism and kitsch that you really either like or not. However, there is no doubt that the SS18 Versace show was the highlight at Milan this season. It was the 20th anniversary of Gianni Versace's death and the show was a tribute to him that saw his sister, Donatella, really delve into his archives for the first time. It was a heart-warming, fun, throwback to the nineties that was full of colour, plentiful accessories and print on print. The closing, with the nineties supers – Carla Bruni, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Helena Christensen – emerging in gold foil dresses, from behind a curtain to George Michael's Freedom, was an emotional and celebratory climax. Surely, it will remembered as one of the most iconic moments in runway history.
8. Marni
Francesco Risso hasn't been at the helm of Marni all that long and but he sure isn't playing it safe. He has taken typical Marni pieces, shades, silhouettes and patterns and presents them to us as if viewed through a kaleidoscope. It looks vaguely similar but has been utterly reimagined: think bloated garments, raw hems, long corseted bodices, graphic makeup and mismatched everything. Marni's kooky sister is here and, I have to say, I like her!
