Rabbit Beach
Rabbit Beach, in Sicily, is a great example as it is often proclaimed the best beach in the world. It was officially awarded the title by TripAdvisor in 2013 and though it doesn't win every year, the beach is consistently voted by the website's users as one of the best beaches in the world. Visitors say that it is “hard to believe you are not somewhere tropical”. Located on the island of Lampedusa, next to the tiny Isola dei Conigli (or “Rabbit Island”), Rabbit Beach is set in the Mediterranean Sea and paints an exceptionally beautiful picture with the white sands being lapped by the azure water.

Due to the fame of the beach in recent years, however, it can get very busy on Rabbit beach, particularly in the high season. If you're looking for more peace and quiet, there are plenty of lesser known beaches of a similar calibre all over the website that are just waiting to be discovered. Find a vacation rental in Sicily and you can begin checking out all the stunning beaches on the island for yourself.
Trani, sunset
Trani, meanwhile, is known as the “Pearl of Puglia” and is beautiful town is made up of whitewashed buildings against impossibly blue waters and skies that turn vibrant pinks and oranges as the sun sets. There is plenty to see in the pretty and historic town but its best selling point has to be its beaches and the sea. Trani's crystal clear waters are the perfect place to go for lazy swims in the afternoon or spend a day trying out water sports and, in the evening when you're tired, provides the freshest seafood to sample in the local restaurants while taking in the amazing sight of the sunset across those same waters.
