You won't be stuck for things to do in Venice - there is a vast wealth of things to see and do everywhere you turn. However, it might not necessarily be the most child-friendly place in the world. Or certainly, it may seem that way at first. Kids need a sense of adventure and a reward for all the places and tourist destinations that require lots of being quiet and paying attention. Why not reward them by doing some things that are a little bit different and bound to get them excited? Here are just three of many things to do with the kids so why not find a holiday rental in Venice and get exploring together?

1. Go shopping – in the canal!
Libreria Acqua Alta is a famous bookshop in Venice which is the self-proclaimed "most beautiful bookstore in the world". And what makes it so special, you might ask? This unique little store has given up trying to fight the flooding from the canal next door and leaves the water flow as it will. Instead of fighting it, they have placed their goods inside waterproof containers and storage and, even, a gondola which is located in the middle of the shop floor. If you and the kids are after a postcard or something to read, this is the place to go. You'll be entranced and they'll get a giggle out of the whole thing.

2. Visit the world's most unique Amusement Park
If you're willing to hop in a car, head out of Venice to Battaglia where, in the forest, you'll find Ai Pioppi. Opened as a food stand by a man named Bruno in 1969, it has since become a well-known and well-established restaurant in the area. What makes it unique, however, are the rides that Bruno has been building, by himself, for years to attract families to his establishment. Some of the rides might be a little frightening for younger children, or you might be wary of them, but if you're looking for an adventure that you're all bound to remember, it's worth going in search of this place.

3. Take a Ghost Tour
Perhaps another thing for kids that are a little bit older are the ghost tours of Venice. The ghost tour of Venice is a little more unique and interesting than a regular guided tour. Taking place at night, the tour is a bit of fun and silliness (and maybe a scare!) for the whole family. Departing from Rialto Bridge, it lasts an hour and a half and sees an expert guide lead you around Venice showing the city's hidden corners and telling ghost stories, legends and some of the history of the city as you go.
If you are on holiday with your kids in Venice (or are a bit of a kid at heart) these are definitely some activites you might want to check out!
