The main interior of the church looks innocent enough but follow through a door with a sign saying ‘Ossario’ and you'll find yourself into a cold high ceiling chapel with caged lined walls housing thousands of skulls and other human bones!
What’s most strange about this room of bones is how they have been used as a means of decoration, creating strange patterns that look quite striking until you realise what they’re made up of.
A hospital and cemetery once existed beside the San Bernadino church and when the cemetery became full, the bones of the dead were brought here to be stored!

Along the large pedestrian street called Corso Vittorio Emanuale II is a beautifully designed miniature representation of Milan’s historic centre.
At first glance it just looks like an abstract 3D sculpture of the city but in fact it’s marked all over with Braille detailing the streets and famous monuments of Milan. This serves both as an artistic outdoor piece and a very helpful aid for the blind to navigate their ways through the streets.
