Rock im Ring is an Italian music festival which takes place in Ritten in Trentino Alto Adige each year in July. The festival is dedicated to primarily metal, punk and rock music. It was established in 1994 and has progressively gotten bigger each year, attracting more and more famous acts. Among those to have played in past years are Marky Ramone, Gallows, Juliette Lewis, The Subways and Dropkick Murphys. This year, the festival is taking place on the 10th and 11th of July with twenty-two bands playing across two stages over the course of the two days. Full weekend tickets are no longer available for this year but single day tickets are still available. The festival takes place in Ritten Arena, a sports arena in the town.
Among the headliners are In Flames, a Swedish heavy metal band which was formed in 1990 and has since released eleven studio albums, who play on the Friday night. As of 2008, they had sold over 2 million records which makes them serious heavy-hitters in the genre.

With such a long career, their music has been varied and changed over time. The band has also progressively become more alternative, replacing simple death growl with a combination of screaming and clean vocals. This has divided some long-term fans but their sound continues to attract new fans and stand the test of time.

They have released three albums and five EPs and originally split up in 1998 before reforming in 2012 and 2014. Refused have been cited as influences by many famous punk and alternative bands including Blink-182, The Used and Rise Against, have been covered by multiple acts and have been featured in movie and television soundtracks.
