
Visit the superb city of Asti in the region of Piedmont. Only 55 kilometres east of Turin, Asti has been settled by human inhabitants from as far back as the Neolithic period! Tourists could start their day of explorations here by walking around some of the ancient city walls which still encase the northern part of Asti. The north-west district of the city is brimming with magnificent old palaces and grand houses to walk around and admire for a few hours.

Asti was famously known as the city of 100 towers even though there was once as many as 120 built here! Like the popular tower town of San Gimignano in Tuscany, only a few remain standing but a wealth of knowledge about them is readily available for tourists to learn about.

One of the largest in Piedmont, this mesmerising building is filled with exquisite coloured glass windows, 18th century frescoes and precious artworks. Asti is also home to quite a large community of Jewish people, of which there is a museum dedicated to to learn more about their long documented time here.
