The Aeolian archipelago is a group of islands off the north coast of Sicily that can get quite blustery at times! It was named after the Greek god of the winds, Aeolus, so be sure to bring a warm light jacket to avoid getting cold.

Two volcanoes are still active on Stromboli and Vulcano. Tourists can enjoy bathing in hot thermal springs across all the islands among the peace and tranquillity of nature. This archipelago has been awarded UNESCO World Heritage Status for its uniqueness.

On Vulcano Island, tourists can bathe in warm mud baths but be warned that the smell of sulphur is very strong! This potent gas is actually an excellent tonic for those with asthma and other lung conditions. Afterwards why not get cleaned up and pay only €3 to climb up close to the smouldering volcano on this island. It’s truly a marvellous sight to behold!
