Visit Malcesine Town On The Shores Of Lake Garda

Situated on the shores of the scenic Lake Garda in Northern Italy is the pretty little town of Malcesine. The cobbled streets here are filled with tourists during the warmer months pottering around the shops, visiting the local cultural attractions and sunbathing on the lake’s shores.

Choose from a lovely selection of holiday villas in Azzenza only a few kilometres from Malcesine where you can spend a few days exploring the picturesque Lake Garda.

Framed by the Monte Baldo behind it and Lake Garda in front, Malcesine is a beautiful place to visit and is home to a castle also.

Castello Scaligero was a military fortress until the 19th century when it was converted into a collection of museum and art exhibition spaces which are open every day. There’s a fantastic natural history museum here with tours available in several languages.

Admire the views over Malcesine from the tower here before heading back into the town to explore the dazzling 15th century Palazzo dei Capitani close to the harbour. It was once the home of the powerful Venetian lords who once ruled this area.

Walk along the scenic lakeside promenade of Malcesine where tourists can spot some lovely little bathing spots to relax at for a few hours.

There’s a superb tourist information office beside the harbour where itineraries can be found of picturesque walking and cycling trails around the perimeter of Lake Garda and boating visits to its islands. Or head for the heights by buying a €17 return ticket on a cable car from Malcesine up to Monte Baldo! Tickets are only €11 for over 65s and young children.

This thrilling ride climbs to a height of 1760 metres and from up here the temperature is pleasantly cooler during the hot summer months. Why not bring a delicious picnic up here and soak in the majestic views of Lake Garda, its communes and the surrounding mountains.

Stop of in Malcesine for a day or so and experience some terrific tourist attractions and scenery!
