
Come on holidays to one of the most popular destinations in Italy; Lake Garda! Located between the regions of Veneto, Trentino Alto Adige and Lombardy, this giant lake is unusually shaped, being quite wide at the south side and growing narrower as it stretches north. This watery paradise can be best explored by booking a ride on one of the many boats and ferries that regularly network across the vast body of water. There are numerous islets to stop off at for a while and five main island.
They’re called Isola del Garda which is the largest and Isola San Biagio which both lie at the south side of Lake Garda close to San Felice del Benaco. The other three are called Isola dell‘Olivo, Isola di Sogno and Isola dei Conigli which means the “island of rabbits”! They lie on the north-eastern side of Lake Garda. The River Sarca is the main tributary into the lake and water flows away from Lake Garda via the Mincio River.
Be sure to stop off at the quaint fortified town of Sirmione on the Southern side of Lake Garda, filled with lots of interesting things for tourists to do and see. Relax in one of several available spa complexes in the town as well as enjoying the busy shopping district and choice of restaurants here.

Stop off to walk around the majestic Scaliger Castle overlooking Lake Garda or bathe in the outdoor sulphur thermal pools situated on the thin peninsula on the lake’s south side. It’s reputed that these warm waters have special healing properties, especially for ailments involving the ear.
