Genga is a stunning Orange Flag awarded town in the Ancona province of Le Marche. Situated on the Sentino River, this charming little haven has lots to offer to tourists. Genga got its name from being the ancestral home of the famous noble della Genga family. This ancient dynasty produced many influential figures throughout the centuries, the best known being Pope Leo XII.

This extinct dinosaur once roamed the area surrounding Genga many millions of years ago and was discovered by archaeologists in 1976. Visitors are sure to enjoy reading more about this intriguing creature!
Caves near to Genga
In the afternoon why not travel to the famous Frasassi Caves, around five kilometres south-east of Genga which is one of the most visited natural attractions in Central Italy.

This expansive karst cave system is ideal for showing off to tourists and houses many deep lakes, rivers and huge galleries just waiting to be explored. Beautifully lit up, tourists have a superb opportunity to learn more about how these strange geological formations occur over millions of years.
