Nice villa. Our apartment TV did not work properly, showed only some local channels, not even Rai1 or similar. We missed the last weekend of the Olympic Games due to this! Kitchen was ok. Lots of ants on the left of the kitchen table. We were not able to leave any food incl fruit and bread on that spot. Owner couple nice people but they do speak only Italian. Internet was not working in our apartment but apparently was working in another one. In today’s word this would be crucial to fix. The owners had no idea how to fix it. Other guessed pushed the owners to clean the pool daily which was good. Pool area is nice and pool a good size. Barbeque are also good.

I would not stay at this place unless you had a rental car. Dont stay in August all restaurants in near by villages shut because of holidays those are the ones you can walk to.The Restaurant at the Castle has very limited menu choice once you have eaten there two nights you have tried everything.They could improve the situatiuon by renting out bikes or scooters which they dont do I mentioned this to the reception. The Taxi drivers who are local gouge guests if you use them. We wanted to go 5kms to a retaurant for a meal. The Taxi driver wanted to charge us 90 euros because he had to wait for us. This is unacceptable, they need to find a better and more fair way of getting guests to nearby villages. 65 euros to drive into Florence if you use the local taxi drivers. We got a taxi from the Florence railway station to Montifigunni for 47 euros so there is a fair bit of scalping going on be warned

Really beautiful setting just a couple of mins drive from San Gimigano which is lovely. Apartment very nice, very clean and tastefully decorated. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Only down side is that a couple of the apartments allow for quite big groups. We were unlucky enough to have a couple with six boys aged between 8 and 18. They could fill the pool on their own and unfortunately their apartment was above ours and the noise coming through the ceiling was near constant. That being said we still had a fantastic time and would go back but would make sure we booked an apartment with no apartment above it ( we were in the Lunario)Would you recommend this property to a friend? The parking and driving in this area is not for the faint-hearted. Tiny roadside spaces for parking - not guaranteed and sometimes necessitating a walk down a very narrow road in the dark. Bring flashlights/torches. The accommodation itself is very nice. One of our party found the nearby church bells ringing half-hourly to be more than a little irritating.
