If you’re holidaying in Italy anywhere near the city of Rome, then its well worth visiting Vatican City State within it! Recognised fully as an independent state, the Vatican City is the headquarters of the Catholic Church and is where its leader, the Pope resides.

Every year, millions of pilgrims and tourists come here to admire the magnificent architecture, history and art that has earned Vatican City its status of being a Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO.

At the start of the 15th century, Rome was a shadow of its former self when it was once the headquarters of the mighty Roman Empire. It had a population of approximately one million around the first century which diminished to around 25,000 at the start of the 15th century.

Nice apartment 10 minutes from the Vatican. Public transport right outside to catch buses into the city centre. Apartment clean and easily accessible but A/C not working and not repaired during visit. Outside area very nice but furniture outside very tired. Good value for money.
