Acquacotta is a traditional dish originating in the coastal region of Tuscany known as Maremma. Literally translated the name means “cooked water” and accurately represents its origins as a peasant dish. It is an old and historic dish that comes from the colliers, or charcoal burners, farmers and shepherds of the area, who were the poorest of people. Despite such humble origins, like many other dishes that were once peasant foods, it remains enduringly popular to this day.

Welcoming barn situated in a small farming estate producing olive oil, with beautiful views over the surrounding landscape, the town of Montelupo Fiorentino and the Arno valley. This rental property comprises a restored farmhouse turned into 7 apartments and a small independent barn (Casa Vago) about 50 m from the main house.
The barn interiors are furnished in a rustic style, outside guests can enjoy use of a private, furnised area.
The property is surrounded by a large park offering century-old trees, a pool, a tennis court, barbecue and table tennis.
This property is within easy reach to Florence (the freeway connecting Florence to Pisa is circa 2 km away) and it is in convenient location for visiting Florence, Lucca, Pisa, San Gimignano, Volterra, and the characteristic hamlets of Chianti region.

Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt. Die Unterkunft ist sehr schön, die Küche sehr gut ausgestattet. Die Familie hat uns sehr herzlich aufgenommen und war sehr hilfsbereit. Die Lage ist traumhaft und ideal um Ausflüge zu unternehmen. Alle nötigen Geschäfte sind in ein paar Autominuten erreichbar.

We spend a week in Casa Vago. The house is not new, but perfectly clean and wel equipped: good beds, kitchen, washing machine,... The house is close to shops, the railway station and the highway, which makes it a perfect place for discovering tuscany. We did a lot by train, very comfortable.

Casa Vago is een huis op een mooie locatie. Het huis is van alle gemakken voorzien. Fantastisch uitzicht, rustig gelegen. Prima uitvalbasis als je bekende en/of onbekende plaatsen wil bezoeken. Per trein naar Florence bv. je bent er in ruim 20 minuten. Vriendelijke eigenaar waar je uitstekend mee kan communiceren in het Engels ingeval je geen Italiaans spreekt.

Very nice house-owner lady who is also very fast available if requested. The house itself is located a bit away from the main house where the owner and her family lives, the house has a great view over the valley, it is surrounded by olive trees and wine plants. Inside everything looks nice and works well. Hot water available at any time, heater with gas also. Towels, bed sheets and the like is all available and ready. Within a few minutes by car you can get into a little village, not far away from the next town called Empoli. It is a great place to make trips to florence, pisa, lucca and so on, because they are very easily reachable. However the house is located far away enough from Empoli and the village that you dont feel disturbed by city noises. All in all a place I can recommend for people who want to be away from the crowd (and like it silent during the nights), but get there if wanted fast and easily.

Die Ausstattung ist gut, alle Geräte voll funktionsfähig. Alle Fenster sind mit Fliegengittern versehen und bieten Schutz vor Insekten. Allerdings sollte man sich nachts mit Autan gegen Mückenstiche schützen, denn die Plagegeister gibt es trotzdem in den Zimmern. Beide Toiletten verfügen über Bidets. Die Betten sind bequem und sehr groß. Die Vermieterin ist sehr freundlich und spricht sowohl Italienisch als auch Englisch. Insgesamt ein schöner Ort um erholsame Ferien zu verbringen.
