This week we've been talking all things Ponza, the island near Rome that the Romans have been keeping to themselves. Not a real hidden gem but, rather, a well-known local favourite, it is a stunning place and a perfect holiday destination. While there aren't many traditional tourist attractions nor a party scene like that over other European island destinations such as Ibiza or Mykonos, there is a simple, unpretentious and relaxed atmosphere that makes it the ideal place to unwind. Come explore her lovely beaches, stroll the beautiful natural surroundings, admire the picturesque town and enjoy the good life by spending your time dining and drinking.

Just find a vacation rental in Latium and then spend even a day on the island. While you're there, here are more of the restaurants that you should check out.     Read More

Ponza, one of the Pontine Islands, not too far off the coast of Latium in Italy, is a beautiful place where the natural surrounds are stunning and the lifestyle simple and unpretentious. This island is the holiday destination of choice of Romans and has been for many, many years now. It even attracts the rich and famous and for good reason. The living here is good and mostly involves hanging out on boats or the beach, strolling around the island, eating and drinking, which means that the food is important and begs the question of which beaches to visit and where to eat. Well, we've got that covered in this series of posts. In the last post, we talked about the beaches and this time we're talking restaurants. So, just find a vacation rental in Latium, spend even a day unwinding on this lovely island and keep these food recommendations in mind.     Read More

Ponza is a lower-key and more affordable island destination that is lesser-known beyond Italy but has been the location of choice of Romans for a very long time now. It attracts the rich and famous and for good reason. Pretty, authentic and swathed in both manmade and natural beauty, it is a perfect holiday destination. Just find a vacation rental in Latium and even take a day trip to this “hidden” gem for yourself but remember that it will be most expensive and religiously flocked to by Romans in July and August. May, June and September are great times of year to visit, when it will be less full of local tourists.

One of the things that is most attractive about Ponza is her selection of stunning beaches and there are some seriously great ones to choose from. The most popular beach is Chiaia di Luna, a pale crescent of sand framed by towering creamy-coloured rocky cliffs and lapped by aquamarine waters.     Read More

Ponza
There are some incredibly famous Italian island getaway destinations. Among them, we have the likes of Elba, Ischia, Capri and the whole of the regions of Sicily and Sardinia. However, one of the lesser-known – but no less beautiful – island destinations, at least outside of Italy itself, is Ponza. This is where the Romans vacation and escape to during the hottest summer months and they have been doing so for an incredibly long time now. They've just been keeping stumm about it all this while to keep the beautiful island to themselves.     Read More

Montelupo Fiorentino
In the last post, we introduced the pretty and historic Tuscan town of Montelupo Fiorentino, located just outside Florence and its grand and long-standing tradition in ceramics. A typical Tuscan village, surrounded by beautiful hills, it is home to over 120 producers of its famous ceramics to this day but it is also home to the Museum of Ceramics, which is excellent at giving insight into the importance of the Tuscan ceramics from Montelupo in the history of Italian and European pottery. If you are interested in artisanal goods and craftsmanship, it is a must-see and is also a pleasant museum experience that is a stone's throw away for those who have found a vacation rental in Florence but, also, a little removed from the bustling tourist crowds of the city.     Read More
