If you are looking to plan a city break over the coming months and you are looking for a destination that perfectly combines beautiful surroundings with an unbelievable wealth of things to see and do (from museums to galleries, architectural gems, historic sites, activities, parks, and more), a great culinary scene, and also some excellent shopping, then the Eternal City is, without a doubt, one of the best options around. For a taste of that Dolce Vita, a vacation rental in Rome is just the thing, as it truly is a place that lives up to its name. Rome is always lovely, always fascinating, always a good idea, and always a perfect place to indulge in a bit of retail therapy. And, while there are plenty of interesting independent boutiques, elegant flagship stores for some of the world's best-loved labels, buzzing shopping streets, and more to be explored, a shopping trip is never complete without a visit to a local market. Wouldn't you know it? Rome happens to also have one of the best markets we've laid eyes on! A contemporary, well-oiled gem with the freshest of produce and some really cool traditional and new retailers, if you're planning a getaway in Rome and you're thoroughly exploring her shopping scene then you should definitely make time to visit the Nuovo Mercato di Testaccio, or Testaccio Market.

One of the best food markets in Rome today and home to some incredibly stylish shops, Testaccio Market in the Testaccio Quarter has been utterly transformed in recent years. Formerly shambolic and untidy, it is now a very smooth operation with a little bit of something for everyone and just lots to see...and eat! Among the oldest markets in the city and a neighbourhood fixture for over 80 years, Testaccio Market was moved to its current location back in 2012 and, with the move, became the more orderly beast that it is today. Glass-covered, bright, clean, and charming, the market is made up of nearly one hundred different stalls and retailers, many of which have been run by the same families for generations.     Read More

Alpe di Siusi, Sunset
While summer is still going strong in some parts of the world, across much of the globe, fall colours are taking over and a nip is suddenly in the air. Very quickly, autumn will fully descend, the holidays will be upon us, and ski season will be in full swing. If you're looking for some mountain breaks to look forward to this fall and winter, whether you're interested in hiking or winter sports, it is time to start booking before it's too late!

One of the best mountain destinations for those who want to vacation in Italy has to be South Tyrol. A northern region of Italy with unique, Germanic-influenced traditions and culture, a section of the Alps cutting through it, and some exceptionally pretty towns and scenery, a vacation rental in South Tyrol is perfect for those who want to experience the best of the outdoorsy fun and stunning views that can be offered by a holiday in Italy's alpine areas.

A particularly lovely part of South Tyrol, however, has to be the area around Seiser Alm and the Alpe di Siusi ski resort. Utterly stunning, this plateau is nestled among the craggy and romantic peaks of the Dolomites and is the largest high-altitude Alpine meadow. A major tourist attraction for both skiing and hiking, it is an exceptionally picturesque part of the world and the perfect blend of that combination of outdoor adventure and gorgeous surroundings that draws visitors from all over the globe.     Read More

We've noted before that if you find a villa in Sorrento and spend time in the area, you're going to encounter limoncello sooner more likely than later. The famous lemon-flavoured liqueur is iconic and one of the most famous foodie products in the area that is almost always served after meals out in the area so, even if you have never tried it before, you'll quickly become acquainted after a holiday in this part of Italy. If it proves to particularly tickle your fancy or you want to get your hands on some to bring home as great foodie souvenirs (the best kind!) for the neighbour who kept an eye on your house and watered your plants then you should definitely make a point to head to Limonoro Fabbrica Liquori Di D'Esposito Ciro.     Read More

While a vacation in Italy is all about culture, good food, and incredible natural surroundings and a holiday in Sardinia, in particular, is all about amazing beaches and the uniquely Sardinian heritage and way of life, there is always much more to any destination than its most obvious and famous attractions. For example, there are plenty of fun adventures, theme parks, and kid-friendly activities that can be enjoyed all over Italy and that often fly under the radar of those who are focused on the country's more well-known attributes. If you have found a villa in Sardinia, are spending time exploring this magical part of Italy, and are looking for attractions that are a little less obvious, a lot of fun, and perfect for kids (and the young at heart) then an afternoon splashing around and playing at Splash Aquapark is just the thing!     Read More

Sea stacks in Gargano
Apulia is a famously beautiful part of Italy and if you find a villa in Apulia you will never be in want of things to see and do. You just need to rent a car, hit the road with no particular destination in mind, and then you will quickly find yourself just happening to stumble across all sorts of truly incredible surprises and wonders along the way. However, if you want to head our out with a destination in mind that you can be sure is certain to wow you with its impossible natural beauty, then we highly recommend a visit to Gargano.

Gargano is the name given to an area of Foggia in Apulia that is made up of a series of peaks and highland that projects out into the Adriatic. Much of the upland part of the area is located within the protected Gargano National Park that was founded back in 1991 and some of the peninsula is home to the remains of the Foresta Umbra, an ancient forest that is all that is left in Italy of the oak and beech forest that once covered much of Central Europe. Heading to the coastline, Gargano is also home to some fascinating rock formations and cave systems, pretty bays, charming beaches, and idyllic little towns. All of these different factors ensure that Gargano is, undoubtedly, one of the most picturesque parts of Italy and, thankfully, well-preserved.     Read More
