Widely considered one of the most beautiful and must-see parts of Italy, the Amalfi Coast has a well-earned reputation as a scenic coastal wonder but there are certainly some things to keep in mind if you are booking a vacation on the Amalfi Coast. Read this and figure out if you should travel to the Amalfi Coast...

Keep Your Budget In Mind...
The Amalfi Coast has become such a hot-spot for tourists that it is one of the priciest areas to visit in Italy. Especially the most famous town of Positano. Food and drinks out are very expensive unless you get seriously off the beaten path and will always be even more expensive if you are dining somewhere that takes in the famous coastal views of the area. Taxis are also pricey and the accommodation itself will usually really add up. If you are trying to stick to a budget, it might not be the most fun place to base yourself. However, if you book a villa in Campania in the wider region with us instead, you could always plan a day-trip to the area for a taste without committing too much...

...But If You Want Luxury It’s A Great Way To Go
If you have a large travel budget and really want to embrace luxury, however, then the Amalfi Coast is a dream location. Many of our villas on the Amalfi Coast are stunning luxury villas in Italy that offer once-in-a-lifetime views and surroundings. Dining while enjoying picture-perfect views, visiting spas, exploring chic boutiques, heading out on boat-trips to see the area by sea, and more all really add up but also add to a truly magical experience. If money is not a concern, then you can really do the Amalfi Coast in style.

Getting Around Is A Challenge
Another key concern about the Amalfi Coast is that her towns are spread apart along winding, challenging coastal roads and are defined by endless stairs. Driving and walking around this part of the world both present a challenge and require an iron stomach and strong legs.
All joking aside, you will need to be a competent and confident driver if you are going to navigate the wider area and you should be prepared to walk a lot and up and down serious elevations if you want to really explore these towns.
...But Good For Getting Your Steps In
If you love getting your 10,000 steps for the day (and much more besides) and you love adventure, meanwhile, then this is a stunning part of the world to explore. Plus, what better reward for some serious exertion than an Aperol Spritz and a sea view?

Sandy Beaches Are Not Really On The Menu
While this is a famous coastal destination, for serious beach-lovers the Amalfi Coast might not actually be the best option as the beaches here are generally small and usually pebbly and very busy. For long sandy beaches, a vacation rental in Sicily or a holiday rental in Sardinia is a much better idea.
...But You Can Still Enjoy Being By The Sea
Instead, the Amalfi Coast is better for those who only do an exclusive beach club booked in advance or those who prefer to go for a dip rather than lounge about on the beach all day. Plus, you can enjoy truly dreamy sea views from your villa on the Amalfi Coast, while walking around, dining, and just going about your day. So, if you love to be by the sea but don’t need to spend your whole vacation on an actual beach, this will suit you just fine.
The Amalfi Coast is famous for a reason but the realities of a vacation in this part of the world might not suit everyone and certainly not unless you have realistic expectations of the place. If you’re going to make the most of this bucket list destination, keep our travel tips in mind!
