Fashionable woman in Milan

For fashion lovers and fans of the first movie, the release of the Devil Wears Prada 2 this month loomed large in calendars as a major film event of the year. With a good portion of the plot taking place in Milan, one of the oldest and most celebrated fashion capitals in the world, those planning their summer stay at a villa in Lombardy or a vacation rental in Milan might want to take note of some key locations to add to their travel itinerary.

Set two decades after the original film, this sequel sees Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs return to Runway as their new features editor after every member of staff at her former newspaper is laid off. In need of a job and recently having gone viral for a speech on the continued importance of journalism in the current era, she takes the new role and must once again dive into the world of fashion and face off against Meryl Streep’s formidable Miranda Priestly.

Duomo, Milan

Full of glitz, glamour, gorgeous locations, and incredible places to eat, drink, and shop, the movie makes Milan an even more appealing destination than it already is for those who love fashion and all that is chic.

Here’s our guide to the Devil Wears Prada 2 filming locations in Milan that you won’t want to miss...

The Duomo

The first shot that we see of Milan pans over the city’s gorgeous skyline, sweeping to its iconic Cathedral before cutting to the team’s arrival at a fashion event. For many, the duomo will likely already be on their itinerary but if you want to arrive in similar Runway style it is a great place to start.

Brera Academy

Next we follow the team directly into the Brera Academy, a fine arts academy with a famous and distinctive courtyard that is located a 15-minute walk away from the Cathedral. This location is also the site of the Runway fashion show that is held later on in the film. Visit the iconic courtyard for yourself and head into the museum where works by the likes of Mantegna and Caravaggio are on display.

Villa Arconati

After passing through the entrance and the courtyard of the Brera Academy we head into a montage with a quick change of outfits for the team to (presumably) other days or events. We head inside the Villa Arconati and admire the frescoes and lush decorative details of an internal staircase with the addition of some sculptures and floral arrangements that were added as props to the scene. This stunning historic villa surrounded by lush and impressive formal gardens located in the district of Castellazo of the town of Bollate, northwest of Milan, was opened to the public in recent years and can be visited and explored – a must for those who are also obsessed with interiors!

Palazzo Parigi

Once we have finished the montage set to Madonna’s Vogue, we follow Andy and team back to the hotel (where Emily is also staying), the 5-star Palazzo Parigi – a wonderful spot to stop for a meal in their celebrated restaurant, a cocktail at the bar, afternoon tea in their pretty gardens, or even a treatment in their elegant and iconic hotel spa.

Da Giacomo

For those looking to find a restaurant loved by the fashion set, you can steal Nigel’s tip of heading to Da Giacomo where he says to Andy that he always grabs a bite with Tom Ford each Milan Fashion Week. Inspired by 19th century trattorie and with a classically Milanese cuisine that never disappoints, it features chic interiors with pistachio boiserie, high ceilings, rich tiled floors, and warm lighting – a true must when it comes to eating and to being seen!

Villa Balbiano

During the course of the Milan portion of the film, we do get outside the city to see Lake Como and the Villa Balbiano, which serves as tech billionaire Benji Barnes’ Italian home. For those who fall in love with the idea of a Como escape with your own private mooring and water access as well as waking up to lake views, then you might want to consider our range of luxury villas in Lake Como like Virginia 16 and Gallietta.

The Last Supper

Another scene takes place in another destination likely already on your bucket list: the Refectory of Santa Maria Delle Grazie, i.e. where you will find Da Vinci’s Last Supper. In reality, filming near this famously delicate work was not possible so the production team recreated the room masterfully for the movie. However, if you want to see the real deal for yourself while you stay in a holiday rental in Milan, read our guide to planning a visit.

Il Salumaio di Montenapoleone

To dine à la Donatella Versace in the film and to add another chic foodie stop to your trip, you should take note of the elegant Renaissance courtyard of the historic Il Salumaio di Montenapoleone. Located just off the street that Andy runs down, Via Montenapoleone, in the heart of Milan’s fashion district, it’s the perfect place for an unforgettably stylish meal while on holiday in Lombardy

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

An experience you probably won’t have is getting the stunning Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II to yourself, as Miranda does in the film. Still, this iconic historic indoor shopping centre is another key destination in town for fashion girlies to browse and grab a coffee at one of the chic eateries located inside its hallowed halls.

Fashion Show Locations

In another montage, we see scenes of the Spring/Summer 2026 collection showcase of Brunello Cucinelli at Castello Sforzesco and Miranda and Nigel attend the Dolce and Gabbana show at Metropol Piuarch. You can visit the Castello Sforzesco grounds for free or pay into the museum and this key historic site and architectural gem is already an important tourist destination in town so it’s doubly worth seeing! The Metropol Piuarch, meanwhile, is the former Metropol Cinema and as it is now Dolce and Gabbana’s multi-functional space with offices and event areas, you can’t readily visit but you can admire it as a modern architectural gem if you stroll past while you’re in the centre of the city.
