Villa San Casciano is located just a few minutes from the delightful village of San Casciano dei Bagni, a place celebrated for its natural hot springs since antiquity and which is considered one of the most beautiful towns in Tuscany. Nestled in the rich greenery of the famously lovely Orcia Valley, with centuries-old oak woods all around, the villa offers a true escape from daily life but is still close to the renowned wine areas of Montepulciano and Brunello di Montalcino as well as to Assisi and Perugia in Umbria. The likes of Siena, Florence, and many other key tourist destinations in Tuscany are also well within day-trip distance, making this a perfect base from which to explore the region, while still enjoying peace and quiet and a slice of authentic Tuscan life.
The garden that surrounds the villa is a whopping 10,000sqm and is a well-kept and manicured space along with 6 hectares of woods that are part of the property. The garden is cared for by the owner and has various aromatic plants and has been set up to make the most of this impressive outdoor space. There are two wisteria pergolas with dining areas underneath for plush al fresco meals, various little seats and tables dotted throughout the grounds so that you can enjoy some alone time with a coffee or a good book, a barbecue, a play area for children with a playhouse, swings, and games, and the well set-up pool area. This pool area is fenced-in for the safety of any small children in the group and is surrounded by sun loungers in the open air and some under a shaded area. Open from the 1st of May to around the 15th of October, with the option to be heated, the pool is about 120 cubic meters wide, with a maximum depth of 2m (only at one side). set in the garden with a curved infinity side, night lighting, and five wide steps that allow easy entry into the water.
Inside, the villa only continues to wow. The recent renovations have seen the addition of some gorgeous features and comforts including travertine bathrooms with designer taps, bedrooms with aged oak floors, and beds that are all king size and have memory mattresses. There is also air-conditioning in all of the rooms and all bedrooms are en suite with showers but one also has a copper Devon and Devon bathtub.
On the ground floor there is a well-equipped and charming country kitchen with a dining table that seats 6, a dishwasher, fridge-freezer, microwave, stove top and oven, toaster, Italian coffee machine, and American coffee machine. In addition to this, there are two living rooms, one with a sofa and television and another with armchairs and a working desk. The dining room has a large dining table that can seat up to 14 guests. Five of the bedrooms are also located on the ground floor, four of which are double bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and one which has two single beds and can connect internally to one of the four double rooms, making it perfect for a family with young children. A separate bathroom is also on this floor, as well as a service room that can only be accessed externally and has a washing machine and dryer.
On the first floor, there is another large and luxurious living room with a sofa that can seat ten, two armchairs, a satellite television, and a covered terrace that overlooks the beautiful swimming pool and the towers of San Casciano. This floor also has the final two bedrooms, both of which are doubles with en suite bathrooms but one of which is the room with the bathtub as well as a fireplace.
