Discover The Stunning Lake Molveno On Vacation In Trentino

Molveno
While many are attracted to the coastal areas of Italy for her beaches, sun, fun, and excitement or the major cities for their endless list of things to see and do and cosmopolitan delights or the countryside for peace, privacy, and relaxation, there is another major and popular kind of holiday destination: the mountains. And though there are mountainous areas throughout the country, the Alpine region that stretches in a band across the most northern part of Italy is the most popular among them. Here you get hearty comfort food, snowy winter wonderlands, excellent Christmas markets, long ski seasons, that chalet lifestyle, and all sorts of winter fun. However, during the warmer months, the mountains also make for an excellent holiday destination as they boast wonderfully fresh air, incredible views and surroundings, great hiking options, water sports on the mountain lakes, and lots of different outdoor pursuits. If you like your vacations active, wholesome, healthy, and scenic, this is the type of destination for you. Beach in Molveno
If you have secured your vacation rental in Trentino and are planning what you are going to do during your trip, then a day-trip to the gorgeous Lake Molveno is a great idea. Formed about 4,000 years ago following a massive landslide and located in Trentino-Alto Adige, in the territory of the town of Molveno, the lake is stunning and made particularly picturesque by the fact that it is framed by the central chain of the Brenta Group mountains (including Campanile basso, Croz dell'Altissimo, Sfulmini, and Cima Tosa) to the west and the massif of Mount Gazza and Paganella to the south east. Blanketed in lush green forestry and topped by dramatic snowy peaks, these mountains surround a lake with waters that vary in hue from a rich turquoise shade on bright and sunny days, especially in the summer months, and glassy and dramatic during the snowy days of winter. Walks and pretty beaches also surround the lake, further enhancing, and giving visitors scope to enjoy, its loveliness. Described by the poet Antonio Fogazzaro as the most, "precious pearl in the most precious casket," Lake Molveno is known for its well-preserved state and has been awarded for the quality of its environment for many years. Since 2014, it has been labelled the Most Beautiful Lake in Italy, due to the water quality, the beaches, the services, and the safety precautions that are in place.
Molveno, cablecar
The northern slope, by the town of Molveno, is where flat meadows and the beaches, the "Lido di Molveno", can be found, making this area especially popular with tourists during the summer months. Those interested in walking and hiking in the area will find lots of routes at different levels of difficulty and for those with varying levels of experience. If you are more interested in historic sites, there are several Napoleonic forts and a Napoleonic bridge to be discovered around the lake and those fond of pretty views and photography will have plenty to admire, including a waterfall, local flora and fauna, the mountains, and more. For even better views without having to trek or sweat to take them in, chairlifts and a cablecar will take you to a panoramic terrace. Those who are very much interested in getting active and breaking a sweat in different ways, however, are also well-catered to with options in the area such as SUP, mountain biking, canoeing, sailing, fishing, a visit to the Acquapark, and more. Plus, if you like an organised event and competing, bike races, triathlons, and more are held around the lake each year.

Of course, you can also just come to admire the views, breathe in great, big lungfuls of fresh air, and relax in this stunning part of Italy. It's entirely up to you but if you have found a villa in Trentino, be sure to pencil in a trip to the stunning Lake Molveno!
