Have you always wanted to see the famously beautiful city of Florence for yourself? Well, get browsing our exceptional luxury villas in Florence and our villas with pools in Florence and start planning the trip of a lifetime to make your dreams finally come true!

From endless museums, palaces, and churches stuffed with world-famous works of art; to headquarters of globally-beloved high-end fashion brands, shops selling locally-produced artisanal goods, and historic markets where you can get everything from fresh fruit and cakes to vintage clothes; to architectural gems and picturesque sights around every corner; to family-owned restaurants, centuries-old cafes, and trendy bars; and more besides, there is an endless list of things to see, do, admire, and eat while in the city. However, if you want to make the most of the wonderful outdoor spaces of Florence and you want to zip around and get to know the place in a fun and interesting way, then why not consider heading to the stunning Cascine Park, renting some roller-skates, and exploring the city on foot...and wheels...
The historic Cascine Park was built originally as a hunting ground and farm for the Medici family in the 16th century. Spread over a whopping 160 hectares, it is a long and narrow park that stretches right from the centre of the city along the Arno River to where the Mugnone flows into it. Based in the middle of this well-used and well-loved park, the Roller Club Firenze was founded in June of 1995 when rollerblading first became extremely popular in Italy. The club organises classes, trips, and workouts for enthusiasts of rollerblading but is also a rental shop from which you can borrow some skates to head off on your adventure along the Arno and through the park. Originally, they had about 90 pairs of skates on offer but now there are over 315 pairs to rent. However, as they have become a well-known and well-established fixture of this popular outdoor space, this large enough number of skates is prone to disappearing rather quickly on any given day, especially during the summer and weekends. If you don't want to be disappointed then be sure to try and get there early in the day to secure your pair! The shop is located right in the centre of the park in Le Pavoniere, which is a former palace of the Lorena family that dates back to 1743.

Declared an architectural and environmental heritage site by the Italian government in 1961, Cascine Park is closed to traffic and there are 6km of paths that wind through the charming trees and landscapes of the grounds. A fun way to get out, get active, and to explore this leafy and buzzing, popular part of Florence, renting a pair of skates from the Roller Club Firenze is the opportunity to make memories that will last a lifetime. The closed and paved environment of the park, too, is a nice and safe way to try it out if you're a little less certain on your feet or if you have little ones with you. Of course, those who are more assured might venture closer to the city centre proper and take in the sights that way but it is worth bearing in mind that it will likely be more uneven and will require more skill and experience.

So, if you have been considering one of our vacation rentals in Florence and are planning to come and see the gorgeous and lauded artistic capital of Tuscany, then be sure to set aside some time to rent some skates and experience this park that is so favoured by locals and to see the city from a different and unique perspective!
