The track was opened in 2009 and established by Massimiliano Musso. Musso, who was born in Geneva in 1965 and came to Cervinia in the early seventies in order to ski in the area at a competitive level for years. He then became a certified skiing teacher in 1987 and a snowboarding teacher in 1997. Having also been a rally driver and having joined the International Center for Safe Driving by Andrea De Adamich in Varano de’ Melegari (PR) as an instructor/driver for Alfa Romeo, Maserati and Ferrari brands in 1998, he was the perfect person to establish a very special go-karting business in a snowy setting. Ice Kart Cervinia officially opened their doors in December of 2009 and, in 2010, enlarged the track to accommodate higher performance vehicles under the name Ice Driving Cervinia.
Open and running from December to March, Ice Kart Cervinia is open daily, boasting great opening hours long past sunset thanks to the incredible modern lighting system that allows the track to be fully illuminated at night. They are open from Monday to Friday from early in the day until between 8 and 10pm and are open Saturday, Sunday, and holidays from 10am until 8pm. Qualified instructors are on board to help you learn to drive on the ice safely and there are various activities to enjoy: racing against friends, group challenges, practices, challenging the chronometer, timed sessions, sprint races, grand prix, and sessions for kids (over six years of age). The incredible thrill and wonderful fun of the unique experience of racing on the ice cannot be overstated and a day at Ice Kart Cervinia is sure to offer a nice dose of adrenaline to get you excited and shake off some stress while you are on your holidays.
Some things to keep in mind are that on Fridays sprint races and grand prix are open to all and that Mondays are reserved for kids and female drivers. Be sure to also dress appropriately in post-ski gear (jacket, pants or suit, gloves, snow boots) and leave your scarf at home as they are banned for safety reasons. When you get there, you will be given a safety helmet and under helmet and those who just want to watch or accompany are also catered for as there are two heated chalets located in raised positions with eagle-eye views of the track.
