Bikes are a pretty central fixture of Italian life and the visual character of the country from the image of Audrey Hepburn speeding, carefree, through the streets of Rome, to the iconic scenes of a man and his son desperately combing the streets for his stolen bicycle in, “The Bicycle Thieves.” You may have even imagined cycling through the historic streets of an Italian city or the open countryside. That can be readily achieved but if you're a serious cycling and bicycle enthusiast and want to learn more about the history of it in Italy or experience more cycling related activities, then you'll also find lots to see and do. If you have found a vacation rental in Milan, for example, you need to make time to head to Bianchi Café & Cycles.
Opened in April of 2014 when Fabbrica Italiana Velocipedi Bianchi finally crossed a special finish line in its hometown of Milan after a long worldwide tour, the café is located right in the historic centre of the city on via Cavallotti, just a short distance from the city's beloved Duomo.
Partially a shop that displays memorabilia telling the history of the company since is foundation by Edoardo Bianchi in 1885 up to the present day, including a showcase of some of the latest and greatest models, it pays wonderful homage to this iconic Italian brand and tradition, while remaining active as a full-service bike shop.
Then, there is the café, picked out in tan and beige shades that further emphasise the vibrant pop of the company's characteristic bright blue throughout and is a pleasant and roomy space. There is an extensive wine list and a delicious menu to look over for either coffee and a snack, full breakfasts lunches, and dinners, and cocktails and aperitifs.
Plan a trip and enjoy this very special café in Italy!
