The charming city of Cosenza in the region of Calabria in the south of Italy is filled with surprises around every corner. If you have found a vacation rental in Calabria and are planning a day trip to this historic city, then be sure to head to Corso Mazzini, a pedestrian area between Piazza Bilotti and Piazza dei Bruzi, which is home to Cosenza’s Bilotti Open-air Museum. This street is dotted with works by famous sculptors like Mimmo Rotella, Emilio Greco, Giacomo Manzù, Giorgio De Chirico, Pietro Consagra, Justin Peyser, Sacha Sosno, and Salvador Dalí and is a museum that you can visit for free and whenever you want.

Cosenza was the hometown of Carlo Bilotti, an art collector, entrepreneur and a bonafide culture vulture, who, before passing away back in 2006, decided to donate his collection of sculptures to the city. This wonderful gift to the town is now a crowning centre-piece and a must-see for anyone visiting the city. Just take a stroll down the road and admire the masterpieces freely.
Particular works to keep an eye out for include the enigmatic "St. George and the Dragon" by Dali, the "Wolf of the Sila" by local Calabrian artist Mimmo Rotella, “Hector and Andromache” by Giorgio De Chirico, and “The Cardinal” by Giacomo Manzù.
A very special museum and feature of the city, the Bilotti Open-air Museum is a rather unique new exhibition experience in a country that is home to some of the oldest and most famous museums in the entire globe. As you wander Cosenza and keep an eye out for her many charms and surprises, make sure to take a stroll down this most interesting road.
