Milan fashion week is a stalworth of the global fashion industry and, as you might imagine, it is a place where some extraordinary trends and items of clothing are born. Every season, there are some stand-out looks that really shake the world and capture the hearts and imaginations of all. If you are a fashion lover that has found a vacation rental in Milan, there are the types of things you might expect to see in shop windows and the highlights of AW18 at Milan Fashion Week.
1. Heads and dragons as accessories at Gucci
Gucci are really having a moment lately. They are, of course, a massive Italian heritage brand but they have been particularly trendy and the label of choice for the biggest stars, models, actors and rappers around the globe in recent years.

This season, for their Autumn/Winter collection, Alessandro Michele further capitalised on this incredible level of fame and amped up the theatricality with a show in a set that looked like an operating theatre. Such a set immediately grabbed everyone's attention but then the clothes themselves took centre stage and two accessories, in particular, stood out; human heads that looked exactly like the two models that were carrying them and a baby dragon. Not likely to be sold in stores, they were still highlights and the spirit of the collection will still be extended into Gucci stores in Milan.
2. Moschino's Jackie O Aliens
Moschino presented a far more demure collection than we normally see from head designer Jeremy Scott; a sixties and Jackie O inspired collection of two-pieces, knee-length skirts and little pill-box hats perched on top of perfectly coiffed hair. However, the weird and wacky couldn't be repressed entirely and some of those Jackie O lookalikes were actually painted as aliens, making for a striking sight as they made their way down the runway.
Of course, there are more excellent highlights from this past season so be sure to read on to the next post for things you need to know about, fresh from the catwalk in Milan.
