Highlights Of Milan Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2019

As is often the case, Milan fashion Week this season presented us with large collections that, inevitably, had high points but also a great deal of repetition and less interesting garments. The scene was shaken up by the departure of Gucci to Paris Fashion Week but there was still plenty to see so, if you're looking to find a holiday rental in Milan for the Spring/Summer season next year, these are the collections that you will see and be able to shop in store during your vacation. Here are the highlights of MFW SS19 to keep an eye out for...

1. Ermanno Scervino

Ermanno Scervino presented, hands down, the most cohesive and elegant collection at MFW.
Full of crisp white fabrics, impeccable tailoring, playfully pretty dresses contrasted with oversized suiting, tastefully accessories and neat styling, this was a brand that had a vision and presented it thusly. The Amal Clooneys of the world will surely continue to rep the label.

2. Versace

Versace did Versace with bold colours piled on top of each other, very late nineties early noughties leather and fearless pattern mixing. However, the floral section of the collection with the meshes and complex layering, plus that neon yellow leather coat were the standouts that worked the best. Continue the slinky vibes, Donatella, it's where you're at your strongest.

3. Moschino

Moschino loves a gimmick and embraces the kitsch like few others. Jeremy Scott had a very singular gimmick in mind for this collection; sketches, a designer at work. As a result, the catwalk was a stream of models in very Yves Saint Laurent silhouettes and tipped hats with a very Scott twist. The garments look drawn on with flurried lines etched out on them and a - surely must-have - pair of tights that were a collaboration with Wolfords on many of the models featuring a scribble down the centre of each leg. Tongue-in-cheek and meta, as Scott often is, the collection is one of his most well-executed in a while.

4. Prada

Prada showed a few different vibes in this collection the strongest of which, to me, were the creepy schoolgirl looks, and mashed opposing ideas together as Miuccia Prada tried to express the clashing of thoughts and views in the current political climate. Breaking the rules has always been in Ms Prada's vocabulary.

5. Alberta Ferretti

Last, but not least, we has the billowing, endless romance that is Alberta Ferretti, who always turn out garments that people want to put on their bodies. Slip dresses, pretty blouses and cocktail frocks showed alongside dungarees and cargo pants imbued with Ferretti magic to present a collection for escaping to holidays and exploring in, all while keeping that romantic sensibility alive.

So, if you find yourself in Milan next season, you know where to shop!
