Frontone Beach
Ponza Island is a veritable paradise off the coast of Latium in Italy. One of the Pontine Islands, a group of six islands of volcanic origins, it has long been a favoured holiday destination of the Romans and has attracted the likes of Rihanna, Bruce Springsteen, Mariah Carey, Beyoncé and Jay-Z in recent years. Picturesque, relaxed and unpretentious, it is less a party island (unlike some of its neighbours) and more a place to truly unwind. Just find a vacation rental in Latium, hop on a boat and spend some time on this incredibly beautiful island.
Of course, as an island, there are some excellent beaches to discover and they are a great reason to head to Ponza. One of the best is Frontone Beach. This long and wide beach is one of the most frequented beaches on Ponza.

Only accessible by boat, there are ferry shuttles to take you there from the port in Ponza, which cost around €5 for a return ticket.

The main beach of the island, Chiana di Luna is closed now, it is a popular and beloved spot for its sand and pebble beach (most in the area are just pebbles), yacht-spotting and facilities; with plenty of places to eat and get a drink, showers and lounger rentals. As a result, it can be crowded, especially in the high seasons. Heading out early or late in the day is recommended to avoid the worst of the crowds and if you go to the rocky area to the far right of the beach, you'll find more space.

With crystal clear, warm waters and views out onto the Tyrrhenian Sea, a perfect beach for families, lots of facilities and lovely breezes to help cool you down, this is definitely where we'd like to be spending our afternoon right now! Surely, one of the best reasons to get on a plane to Italy as soon as possible.
