10 Of Our Best Historic Properties

Castello Pandolfini, decor
Among the incredible properties that we have to rent, there are many that are unique or interesting. In some cases they have particular features, locations or views to recommend them but some of the properties themselves are the stars of the show.

Some of the most stunning are our historic vacation rentals. These properties have character to spare, tales to tell and photogenic moments aplenty.

They are the perfect location for weddings, truly once-in-a-lifetime holidays for history buffs and seriously luxurious getaways. Here are just ten of our favourites and they really are beauties.
Castello Pandolfini, exterior

1. Castello Pandolfini

Castello Pandolfini is one of the ultimate historical properties that we have to offer. A perfect venue for a wedding, it is a romantic and stunning villa. Despite the fact that the grand interiors often retain much of their original character or feature a sprinkling of antique furniture, details and works of art, the villa has all the features of modernity and facilities that make for a wonderful holiday: WiFi, air conditioning and a private pool. The property can accommodate up to 18 people comfortably in nine bedrooms with seven bathrooms. Located in the stunning surroundings of the Chianti region of Tuscany, the property has extensive grounds with forestry, groomed gardens, flower-draped pergolas and incredible views. For those planning an elegant family wedding and looking to house their guests under one roof, there could be no better option than this villa, which is available from €1500 per night.
Ca' Marcello

2. Ca' Marcello

Ca' Marcello is truly breathtaking. It is a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom Palladian villa that built in the second half of the 16th century by the Marcello family, one of the most powerful and noble families of Venice. As with all Palladian style buildings, this villa is formed of a central main building that is flanked on both sides by arcaded wings. One of these wings contains the rental property and the whole building frames an incredible Italian style garden with a fountain, Greek mythical statues, flower beds, lawns and bushes. The park surrounding the villa measures 70,000 m2 and is home to long rows of hornbeams, lime trees and oak trees, a lovely dove cote, a chapel, a large fish pond with running water and woods. There is also a soccer field and swimming pool, allowing the property to offer both historic elegance and fun. Inside, the house is like something plucked right from a period drama but has all the necessary mod cons, it truly is a perfect holiday destination. With prices starting from just €400 per night, the unit has four bedrooms and sleeps up to eight.
Tenuta Nucci

3. Tenuta Nucci

Tenuta Nucci is located in Nardò, 15 km from Gallipoli, in the beautiful countryside of Salento. It is just a few kilometres to the coastline, famous beaches such as Porto Cesareo and Sant'Isidoro Marina and important historical and natural gems such as Palude del Capitano, Torre Uluzzo, Portoselvaggio bay, Le Quattro Colonne, La Montagna Spaccata and Gallipoli. The building itself is a large and luxurious historical villa that was carefully renovated in 2009. It does not retain the perfectly preserved historical character of Ca' Marcello but is elegantly decorated and dotted with genuine antiques. Surrounded by trees, meadows, fields and vineyards and in a quiet, sunny position, it boasts a lovely garden and private swimming pool. For a taste of the historical, with all the benefits and comforts of modern living and none of the concerns about staying in a veritable museum, it is perfect. Prices start at just €394 per night and the villa sleeps up to ten in five bedrooms.
