5. A City With Perfect Beaches

As Genoa is located on the Italian Riviera, it isn't just a great urban destination but it is also home to some excellent beaches, meaning you can have the best of both seaside and city breaks in one destination.

Genoa truly boasts some of the best and loveliest beaches in Italy.

In the Old Town, there is a system of 42 Palazzo dei Rolli buildings that have been listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites and, among them, the Palazzo Bianco.

Built in 1550 to host the residence of Genoa’s most prominent and famous aristocrat families, the Grimaldi family, it is now a public art gallery that houses works by great names such as Filippino Lippi, Veronese, and Caravaggio all are represented and highlights include Rubens’ "Venere e Marte (Venus and Mars)", Van Dyck’s "Vertumna e Pomona" and Lucas Cranach the Elder's "Portrait of a Lady". However, it is not just the excellent art collection that awaits visitors but also a small rooftop terrace that offers incredible views of the city and a stunning garden with a bar where you can grab a cocktail, sit back and enjoy this lovely city.
