View of Castel Gandolfo and Lake Albano
Come to the province of Rome in Latium, not just to see the capital city and the famous state of Vatican City within it, but the magical Castelli Romani that lies just outside it!

Located around 16 kilometres outside of Rome city is a scattering of lovely little towns and villages that boast of delicious food, wine, scenery and attractions.

Choose from a lovely range of villa rentals in the Latium countryside where you can easily hop in your car and embark on a picturesque trail of Castelli Romani.
View of Ariccia
Despite the name meaning the ‘Roman Castles', there are actually no castles here! But these towns almost create a type of protective wall between them as they’re all lined up side by side in a rough line that stretches for over 80 kilometres!

Set almost in the centre of this unique line of towns is one of the most beautiful towns in Latium called Castel Gandolfo.

This town is the official summer residence of the pope and is actually part of Vatican City, making it a site of foreign land surrounded by Italy, just like in Rome city itself!

Castel Gandolfo is built beside a scenic volcanic lake and offers tourists an excellent range of restaurants, shops and attractions to keep them thoroughly entertained during their visit here. Tour around some other charming towns in Castelli Romani such as Albano and Ariccia.
Lariano bread
Taste the famous thinly sliced porchetta here which is carved roast pork with a sublime salty flavour. Bring some of this delicious meat along to the nearby town of Lariano which is renowned for its tasty fresh bread and make a fine feast for yourself!

Tourists could easily tour through all of these magnificent towns in a day, stopping off for snacks and perhaps a lovely Italian ice-cream on your trail through them all.

Plan your next vacation to Latium this year and absorb all the wonderful sights, sounds and flavours waiting to be experienced!
