Palazzo del Te loggia
Situated on the outskirts of Mantua in Lombardy is the architectural masterpiece called Palazzo del Te! Designed in an elegant mannerist style by architect Giulio Romano for Frederico il Gonzaga in 1524, this was a lavishly built palace with certainly no expense spared!

Book a stay at a scenic villa rental in Lombardy where you can easily travel around to to see the many attractions of this region, including the glorious Palazzo del Te!

Palazzo del Te is so intricately decorated that after the vast shell of it was built, it took a team of fresco painters, stone carvers and plasterers a period of ten years to adorn every section of wall, floor and ceiling of it!

It was indeed a treasured jewel of artistic achievement and it is little wonder that Palazzo del Te is considered as one of the most beautiful villas in all of Italy!
Palazzo's Casino della Grotta
Walk through the Casino della Grotta which was a cluster of small rooms situated around a grotto and covered balcony where a man made waterfall was created.

Courtiers used to refresh themselves under this cascade which splashed over the pebbled and shelled walls and floors of this area.

Tragically the palace was almost completely ransacked during the War of the Mantuan Succession by an imperial army of 36,000.
View from Palazzo del Te
Thankfully some treasures have been returned to its rightful place and today, tourists can stroll around the Museo Civico del Palazzo Te which contains a stunning collection of Mesopotamian art.

Frequent exhibitions and cultural tours are hosted in Palazzo del Te and visitors can also walk around its splendid landscaped gardens. Visit the magnificent Room of Psyche where every inch of it is adorned in frescoed colour and vibrancy.

The ceiling is especially breath-taking where countless hours of careful craftsmanship went into its incredible creation.

This is truly a palace that needs to be seen in person to fully appreciate the sheer dedication to artistic beauty that was poured into its construction and decorative finishing.
