The stunning city of Ragusa has lived through an exciting past and is brimming with exciting things for tourists to see and do! A once geographically united city, a terrible earthquake in 1693 destroyed much of the area and tore a huge ridge between it. The survivors of this disaster managed to pick themselves up again and decide what they were going to do. Today the lower part of the city below the ridge is called Ragusa Ilba and the higher part is called Ragusa Superiore.
