Situated in Central Italy is the magnificent region of Umbria. Gubbio
Visit the stunning UNESCO awarded town of Assisi, home of the endeared Saint Francis until his dying day. This town is beautifully preserved and offers a rich history of its past and that of their beloved saint.

Or explore the oldest town in Umbria called Gubbio which is full of splendid sacred buildings and noble houses dating from the 9th to the 14th centuries. There’s also a fun kite flying festival here that takes place in the last week of March that would be a wonderful sight for your eyes to see!

Tourists might also be interested in seeing Todi, reputed as being the greenest town in the world! It’s recycling and eco-friendly regime is so perfect, the locals are almost self-sustainable!

Or bite into the meaty treats awaiting you in Norcia, the Italian capital of pork! Wild boar roam in this area and so have provided artisans with the flavour to make delicious cured salamis and succulent roast meals for many years now. Taste the juiciness of roasted wild boar served in a rich tomato sauce along with seasonal vegetables and a glass of local red wine…it’s a treat for the senses!

Be sure to also taste the rare and pungent flavour of the native Umbrian black truffles that beautifully enhance the flavour of pastas or other dishes they’re grated into.

Take a day to visit Passignano town on the shore of Lake Trasimeno which is home to a spectacular open air museum. Lake Trasimeno is certainly deserving of a day trip in its own right where tourists can sunbathe along its banks or enjoy a wine trail of some vineyards nearby.

There’s so much to see and do in the majestic region of Umbria that you might even need a few months to appreciate it all properly!
