
The scenic region of Basilicata, also known as Lucania is a stunning landscape of mountains! It’s the most mountainous region in southern Italy with over half of the area being covered in them. It borders Campania, Apulia and Calabria. Basilicata consists of two provinces called Potenza and Matera.
The Apennines stretch all the way down here and a dormant volcano mountain stands among them called Monte Vulture. Two incredible crater lakes called Lake Grande and Lake Piccolo are here which are most certainly worth a visit.
