Alberobello Trulli
This small town is located in Apulia, Italy, with only about 11,000 residents. The Trulli huts are reminiscent of something out of a fairytale, with their whimsical conical structure. They date back to the 14th century.

A Trullo is a building with a conical roof, which is constructed without mortar. Although you can see Trulli in other parts of Italy, Alberobello is unique because it is the only place where you can see 1,500 of them in one urban setting. These are used for a variety of purposes today, including restaurants, accommodation, and storefronts.

The Trulli are also used as housing for the residents of Alberobello. Although the town itself is a tourist attraction, because it's less accessible from other frequently visited areas of Apulia and Tuscany it avoids being overrun by tourists. You can get to Alberobello easily by train or car from neighboring areas of Italy, and then walk 15 minutes to reach the special Trulli zone.
