My wife and I so loved our one week stay at this amazingly charming cottage. We had arrived very late at night, got lost a couple of times leaving Florence and desperately needed the assistance of Silvia to guide us to find the property. She and her entire family came to the rescue and graciously met us at some point along the highway, and led us to a wonderfully illuminated private property that was our home for the week. Even at night, it looked so inviting with abundant landscape lighting which shone on the garden, house and pool. Beautiful!
Villa Roberto captures the essence of the Tuscan farm-living experience. The vibrant, traditional colors, shuttered windows and expansive outdoor living areas with spectacular views of the valley below – olive groves, grape vines, rustic farm houses nearby and small hill-top villages off in the distance all made us feel like we’d picked the perfect place as our headquarters for exploring Tuscany. Roberto is so centrally situated that we were able to easily access so many wonderful hill-top villages during the day, and return home in time to catch the sunset, before preparing dinner with all of the fresh, local ingredients that we’d purchased earlier.
This cottage was so nicely appointed with all of the little details that most don’t provide. For instance, the small kitchen had all cooking utensils and even a small espresso maker. We’d take our morning coffee out on the terrace and enjoy the morning sounds as we took in the view. The covered terrace was sure useful as there were a couple of rainy days, yet we kept dry even as we stubbornly insisted on enjoying our antipasti while enjoying the lovely rural vista. BTW - the photos are older and do not show the newly constructed terrace roof.
The pool was a luxury on hot days, allowing us to cool off as we sipped Prosecco. On one particular evening, the moon was enormous, so we decided to sit out by the pool as we watched it track across the night sky. The washing machine was a nice convenience as well.
We enjoyed our stay at Roberto so much, that we would definitely stay there again, as well as recommend to our friends!
