When you are trying to plan the perfect vacation in Italy and you are browsing through the amazing and endless array of remarkable villas across our website, it can be hard to narrow it down and to decide upon exactly the right vacation rental for you and your travel companions! We sometimes spotlight particular favourites over on our blog or put together curated lists of properties according to location or a feature (being close to the sea, being romantic, being perfect for larger groups/weddings, etc). Some villas will be displayed on our homepage due to availability for certain periods or being part of a special offer. However, if you want the opinion of a previous renter and a customer rather than our choices – if you want to find out about the experience of actually staying in a property, what that feels like and which villas boast particularly charming features – then the best thing that you can do is go to our customer reviews page.

Here, you can read all about the experiences of previous guests; what they noted as special, if they would return again, what kind of holiday they had, nearby attractions to make note of, if a property is suitable for small kids, etc. Some of these reviews are lengthy and will touch on all sorts of information but some will only give a little glimpse of what you can expect – whatever detail lingers most in their mind – and this can be a key insight that only a previous guest could have about booking a particular villa. Both kinds of reviews are helpful in different ways but we’ll let you decide which ones to pay heed to or see which reviews catch your attention and imagination by letting you click through to check them out for yourself.

In the meantime, here is a curation of some recent reviews and what you can expect as well as what our customers are saying about the experience of booking a dream villa in Italy with us...

Fiorita in Castelluccio
Posted in: Central Italy Landscape Pretty Views Tourist Attractions Umbria

Breathtaking fields made up of bands of rich yellow, red, and blue blooms, swathed in early morning fog or golden light in the last rays of the day or sharp in colour under clear skies, snowy peaks in the background, winding little roads snaking past, the odd building in the distance or hilltop village perched overhead, a herd of sheep grazing nearby. This is the picture that one comes across should they venture to the area around Castelluccio di Norcia while on vacation in Umbria during the late spring and summer. Called the fiorita, or flowering, this magical annual phenomenon is truly extraordinary and quite the sight to behold. Those who love blossoms and who want to take in the incredible natural bounty and spectacularly vivid colours of this time of year should definitely plan a spring getaway in Italy and head to see this wonderful spectacle for themselves while exploring Umbria...

A regular fixture on our blogs are listicles of some of our favourite properties of the moment among the almost four thousand different villas, farmhouses, apartments, castles, and more located all across Italy that are available to rent on our website. It can be very hard for us to narrow down the lists into bite-size articles for your consumption as there are just so many wonderful options to choose from! But we always somehow manage to whittle it down eventually to a taster of just some of the best of the best among them.

However, if you don't want to just take our word for it and would also like the opinion of one of the world's most stylish publications, then you're absolutely in luck! ELLE magazine, a famously sophisticated and fashion-forward magazine, recently ran a special feature focusing on the coolest, most luxurious, appealing, chicest, and varied ways to holiday in Italy. As Easy Reserve and Italy Villas are two of the best online destinations for those looking into planning a holiday in Italy and finding the perfect Italian villa of their dreams, they posted a special round-up of some of their favourites among our incredible vacation rentals in Italy on their website in conjunction with this Italian travel special. We were delighted to be chosen as one of their go-to sites for booking a vacation in Italy!
Piani di Castelluccio

The landscape of Umbria is rather picturesque, made up of rolling hills, towering peaks, and lush meadows. However, if you have found a vacation rental in Umbria and are planning a trip between May and July, then there is a particular part of the region that you will want to visit. Looking like something from the Sound of Music and too pretty to be quite real, the Piani di Castelluccio, or Plain of Castelluccio is a plain made up of three different sections that is blanketed in flowers in the early summer months each year. Incredibly photogenic and cinematic in its breathtaking beauty, it is a must for photographers and nature-lovers vacationing in Umbria.

Located at the bottom of an old Apennine lake in the area that of town of Castelluccio de Nursia that has since dried up, the Piani di Castelluccio is made up of three plains that are situated 1,350 meters above sea level and extend over a surface of 15 km²: il Pian Grande (or, “the Great Plain”), il Pian Piccolo (or, “the Little Plain”), and il Pian Perduto (“the Lost Plain”). Part of the National Park of The Sibillini Mountains that was created back in 1993, the area is now highly protected in order to preserve the wonderfully rich flora and fauna of the area and its impossibly great natural beauty.

We have written about Marmore Falls previously in the context of adventure. However, if you have found a villa in Umbria and are planning on heading to this fascinating attraction, there could be another objective on the agenda: romance. Sure, there is plenty of adventure to be had in the area – canyoning (traversing the mountain by ropes, sliding on toboggans and diving into pools below), canoeing and trying out hydrospeed (a flotation device you hold on to and which allows you to be flung about on the current of the river) – but it is also an exceptionally beautiful place, built for strolls, holding hands, and admiring the incredibly romantic surroundings.

Marmore Falls is actually an ancient man-made waterfall in Umbria that was created by the Romans in 271 BC. One of the tallest waterfalls in Europe and the tallest man-made waterfall in the world, it is surrounded by lots of hiking trails and is a lush and scenic spot that is incredibly lovely, like something plucked from the pages of a fairytale; impossibly green plants draped over the rocks and cave openings, regular rainbows seen over the falls, the relaxing sound of rushing water, and, of course, Il Balcone degli Innamorati (or the Balcony of Lovers).
