There is, of course, no shortage of truly remarkable beaches located all across Italy and long, famous coastlines dotted by gorgeous spots to hang out by the sea like the Amalfi Coast and the Cinque Terre. However, Sardinia is also well-known for her beaches and for especially idyllic beaches, in particular.

Cala Goloritzé

This, one of Sardinia's most picture-perfect examples of its stunning beaches, was actually only formed back in 1962 after a landslide. The result is a little smooth white pebble inlet lapped by impossibly clear blue waters that is hugged by dramatic cliffs and topped by a 143-limestone pinnacle that has gained it the nickname of a, “cathedral in the sea.” In addition to this, the iconic beach was also given the number one spot on The World's 50 Best Beaches in 2025 by travel experts. Secluded, lovely, beyond picturesque, and in high demand it may come as no surprise that visits to this beach actually have to be booked at least three days in advance. A small fee is collected that is then used to keep the area clean and protected and reaching the beach is only possible by boat or by an hour and a half hike along a coastal trail. For those who love an unspoiled and wildly beautiful stretch of coast and who are staying in one of our vacation rentals in Sardinia, it is well worth taking the expedition to this world-class wonder.

Spiaggia di Tuerredda

Spiaggia di Tuerredda

Tuerredda Beach, meanwhile, is considered the “jewel” of the southwestern coastline of Sardinia and is among the ten most beautiful beaches on the island. Located in the territory of Teulada, in a cove between Capo Malfatano and Capo Spartivento, it is a lovely sheltered beach with famously clear and calm waters. As a result, it is popular among snorkelers, who explore the strand and the inlets, coves, and rocky areas that surround. Unlike Cala Goloritzé, this beach is not a totally untouched gem and actually has a variety of amenities and water sports facilities on offer. There are beach establishments and clubs and canoes, pedalo boats, and rubber dinghies can be rented and a Flyboard operator is located on the strand. An island located a few hundred meters from the shore, however, presents an opportunity for those confident enough to swim out to it, to explore, and to grab a spot in a slightly less crowded area.

Spiaggia della Pelosa

Spiaggia della Pelosa is another of the most famous and beloved beaches in Sardinia. Characterised by its shallow, crystal clear waters, long soft, sandy white strand, islands, and 16th century Saracen Torre della Pelosa watchtower, the beach is incredibly picturesque and almost tropical-looking in the intensity of its colours. As with Spiaggia di Tuerredda, it has a lot of amenities and is very popular so expect crowds but they are well worth braving. The shallow waters for tens of meters out from the coast make it ideal for families and there are a range of activities that are offered in the area such as snorkelling, diving, canoeing, windsurfing, and more. So, if you love an active day at the beach or you want somewhere safe for your kids to swim, be sure to pencil in a visit to this gem while you stay in one of our incredible holiday rentals in Sardinia!
