Chianti

1. Chianti

Probably the best-known of the wine areas of Tuscany worldwide, this is a stunning mountainous and hilly part of the region located across sections of the provinces of Florence, Siena, and Arezzo. The wine produced here is even named for the region, meaning that wine and Chianti will forever be inextricably connected. For incredible wines, picturesque wineries, gorgeous natural surroundings, and more, you can’t go wrong with a villa in Chianti.

Montalcino

2. Montalcino

Smaller and more contained, the Montalcino area is where Brunello di Montalcino wine is produced. Located about 80km south of Florence, in the province of Siena, it is a hilly area just south of the Chianti Classico zone. A more boutique wine area with a charming town at its core and some innovative places making and serving wine, it is a great option for serious wine nerds.
