Established back in 2006, this annual film festival is a major fixture of the cultural calendar of the city and a chance to catch some incredible movies from all over the world.
Though not as famous as some of the other film festivals around the world, it is spread over as many days as Cannes and other major international film festivals, see some films get their premiere at the event, and it draws famous actors, directors, and more to the city each year. Movies that have won major awards at the festival in previous editions included Juno and Marfa Girl, winners of Best Actor have included Matthew McConaughey and Toni Servillo, winners of Best Actress have included Helen Mirren and Scarlett Johansson. Only feature-length films that have never been shown in Europe or have been shown only to audiences in their country of origin and that have never been shown on television or Internet or through any other channel are eligible to be shown at the festival.
